British Columbia declares a state of emergency, floods and landslides spread

British Columbia, western Canada, declared a state of emergency on the 17th as the floods and landslides caused by torrential rains spread. He is calling for caution, saying that the number of deaths may increase.

 

Floods and landslides have confirmed the deaths of one person so far. At least three people are missing. In addition, about 18,000 people have been forced to evacuate.

 

“The death toll may increase,” said British Columbia’s Prime Minister, John Horgan. “We will introduce mobility restrictions while ensuring that necessary supplies and medical and emergency services reach the affected areas.” Stated.

 

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who is visiting Washington, told reporters that the government will support the reconstruction of the disaster area. He said he has sent hundreds to British Columbia and is ready to send thousands more.
