The Ghost and Molly McGee is an American animated television series created by Bill Motz and Bob Roth. The Curse of Molly McGee was renamed The Ghost and Molly McGee on September 24, 2020. The sitcom was picked up by Disney Channel on July 23, 2019, with executive producers Motz, Roth, and Steve Loter serving as producers.

On May 1, 2021, as part of the network’s Halfway to Halloween event, a preview of the show’s theme song was released. The show will premiere on October 1, 2021, with the full version to follow. The show was renewed for a second season on August 31, 2021, more than a month before it was set to start.

The Ghost and Molly McGee Cast

It is the story of a young girl named Molly McGee who becomes best friends with a short-tempered ghost named Scratch after she moves into her new home. Despite their disparate backgrounds, they form an unusual friendship and embark on an adventure. Also, Scratch helps Molly deal with the ups and downs of her adolescence..

Molly is the only one who knows about Scratch. Libby, Molly’s best friend, has a sneaking suspicion that something is amiss, as we see at the end of season one. To make Scratch less frightening, Molly should not tell anyone about him. Molly lies to Libby, stating that Molly has gone to Canada and she is Milly, Molly’s cousin who moved from Canada.

Molly cannot hide the fact that she has a ghost buddy. If Molly has been lying to Libby all along, she will no longer want to be friends with her, as Libby discovers. Libby and Scratch finally have a decent relationship now that they both saved Molly. This is where the second season begins. That includes Ashly Burch, Dana Snyder and Lara Jill Miller as well as Jordan Klepper and Sumalee Montano as well as a number of other original cast members.

Bill Motz and Bob Roth came up with the idea for the animated series. Both of them had worked at Disney for a long time, with Darkwing Duck being their debut writing. the Count was a vampiric ghoul that cursed a little girl named Piper McGee when the show was called “The Curse of Piper McGee” back in the day.”  Originally, this show was pitched to Nickelodeon who turned it down.

They had finished work on Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures after fourteen years when Disney inked an overall arrangement with them So they pitched it a second time, this time under the new title of “The Curse of Molly McGee.” To be developed and executive-produced by Motz and Roth and Steve Loter, the series was greenlit on July 23, 2019, by Disney Channel.

On September 24, 2020, Ashly Burch and Dana Snyder will take the lead roles in the series.  The series was renamed The Ghost and Molly McGee on the same day.  There were various songs from the show that the team took inspiration from. During the latter half of 2020 and the first half of 2021, Motz released a playlist containing these tracks.
