Chamillionaire Music Career

As chameleon meets megamillionaire, the name “Chamillionaire” is a play on those two words. Seriki and Paul Wall, a Houston mixtape DJ, met Michael “5000” Watts while advertising at an event. When it came time to start his Houston hip-hop radio show on KBXX-entrance FM, they suggested promoting Swishahouse and were granted permission to freestyle over the opening track.

They immediately rose to prominence in Houston’s rap scene after releasing a mixtape featuring their freestyles. Seriki and Wall are the brains of The Color Changin’ Click. “Get Ya Mind Correct” sold more than 150,000 copies in 2002. They performed at the SXSW music festival in 2004 after their CD was nominated for independent record of the year by The Source Magazine in 2002.

Seriki had recently published his first solo album when “The Sound of Revenge” was released in 2005 by Chamilitary Entertainment and Universal Records. The RIAA awarded it a platinum disc when it debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. One of his songs on the album, “Ridin’,” won him an award from the Grammys for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

Seriki’s second studio album, “Ultimate Victory,” was released in 2007 and features guest appearances from UGK, Lil Wayne, Devin the Dude, and Lloyd. After splitting with Universal Records, he had planned to release a third album titled “Venom,” which was originally set for release in 2011.

An EP called “Ammunition” was released in March 2012 and a third album called “Poison” was expected to be released in 2013. However, it has yet to be released as of February 2020.

For Seriki, the success of his mixtape ventures is just as important as his studio albums. With “The Mixtape Messiah” in 2004, he released the longest and most popular mixtape in Texas history, with 61 tracks spread over three CDs and spanning three years.

The Mixtape Messiah series would go on to become one of his most popular and eagerly awaited undertakings. In total, there were seven mixtapes in the series, released in 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009. Seriki started a new series of mixtapes called “Major Pain” in 2009, and released the first disc in February 2010.

Following the release of the second “Major Pain” episode in April 2011, he released the mixtapes “Badazz Freemixes,” “Badazz Freemixes 2,” and “Badazz Slowmixes.”

Chamillionaire Business and Investments

In 2004, he launched his own record company, Chamillitary Entertainment. Along with Lil Ken and Troy Henry, he has a record deal. Yung Ro, 50/50 Twin, and Rasaq, the younger brother of Seriki, are among the musicians who have previously worked with the group.

On top of that, there is a slew of EPs and albums from the label. As a result of Seriki’s departure from Universal Records in January 2011, Chamillitary Entertainment is no longer a subsidiary of the big label.
