This fire I feel for you has not gone out. After more than a year together as a couple, Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun recently made their engagement official. “Oui! Je t’aime pour toujours Dimanche. 27. Mars. 2022,” Lavigne, 37, wrote a compilation of Instagram photographs on Thursday, April 7, from the memorable day. The proposal, which took place in Paris, France, happened less than one week prior.
Mod Sun, 35, similarly gushed on social media about the significant event in her relationship. To paraphrase, “I knew you were the one the day we met. We will be inseparable until the end of time. In my dream, I proposed to her while we were in Paris. I reached into my pocket and offered you a ring, requesting that you please put it on. When I stared into your eyes, I knew I had to ask you to be my girlfriend,” he stated in his own social media post.
You’re more lovely than I have the ability to express. I squeezed your hand and exhaled deeply… I said ‘will you marry me?’ + she said ‘yes’. Avril, I adore you.” In December of 2020, the couple met while working on Mod Sun’s song “Flames.” The native Minnesotan admitted he was starstruck by his future girlfriend after meeting her through a mutual friend, Machine Gun Kelly.
I sent her ‘Flames’ maybe two months ago. It all happened so fast,” he told Metro in February of 2021. She said, “Wow, I really love this song,” but I didn’t have the nerve to ask her, “So, you want to sing on it?” right away. It took the rapper some time to “build up” the nerve to ask Lavigne to collaborate with him. I mustered the courage to ask, explaining,
“Yo, there’s no one else on my album — I want so badly for you to be on my album as the only person that appears on my album besides myself, and you said you really liked that ‘Flames’ song.” The Canadian native gushed earlier this year about how she recruited her then-boyfriend to assist her on her debut album. I thought his song “Karma” was great when we first met, and he is a phenomenal songwriter.
I was like, ‘Who did you write this with and who produced it?’” she exclusively told Us Weekly last month. “He really complimented, like, a lot of my ideas and really understood [my vision].” Lavigne also opened up about finding a connection with Mod Sun while working on a breakup album. “Even though the album’s called Love Sux, it’s kind of just, like, all about the crazy things that it puts us through, but it’s very lighthearted and there’s a sense of humour
that goes through it,” she added. Having a good time in spite of the hardships we inevitably face. I’ve learned to laugh at all the ridiculous things that love does to us. It’s very tongue in cheek.” Lavigne has previously been married to Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010. She was wed to Chad Kroeger between 2013 and 2015. Mod Sun, for his part, was linked to Bella Thorne from October 2018 to April 2019. Both ex-partners were also seeing Tana Mongeau during their time together. When Mod Sun first approached the “Sk8er Boi” singer about collaborating, he said he had to “build” up the nerve to do so. “About two months ago, I believe, I sent her Flames. In a nutshell, that’s how fast everything unfolded “In February of 2021, he made the statement to Metro. I didn’t have the nerve to ask her to sing on it right away after sending it to her and hearing her response: “Wow, I truly love this song.”
He elaborated, “I finally worked up the courage to ask her, and I was like, ‘Yo, there’s no one else on my album — I want so desperately for you to be on my album as the only person that appears on it aside from myself, and you said you really loved that Flames song.'” Mod Sun got a tattoo of Lavigne’s name on his neck that very same month.

Lavigne discussed her friendship with Mod Sun on an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. “I walked into the recording studio and said, “Here I am. No more affection for me. I’ve had it with love for a while now “A year and nine months later, in March of 2022, she revealed. “Because of this, I decided to pen the song “Love Sux,” which ultimately became the album’s defining anthem. A few days later, I found myself dating someone. Statistically speaking, I never go out alone.”

Finally, he said, “John Feldmann.” As a result of my admiration for his art, we collaborated, and he introduced me to John Feldmann. The three of us went on to write a number of songs and have a great time working together.
