The Kardashian-Jenners have returned to Hulu with a new season of their reality show, also called The Kardashians. Kris Jenner, aka “momager,” and the Kardashians’ closest friends and family members, including the sisters’ romantic partners, are all present. Scott Disick, a fan favourite on the original Keeping Up With the Kardashians and numerous of its spin-offs, also stars in The Kardashians on Hulu, albeit the dynamic between him and ex-girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian is understandably different.
Kourtney and Scott’s breakup from each other was finalised in 2015 (really). Even though they’ve both moved on with other people (Kardashian is engaged to Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker), episodes 1 and 2 of The Kardashians show that things are still a touch awkward between the former couple. This is especially clear when Scott isn’t invited to a family BBQ.
Why Did Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick Break Up?
Kourtney and Scott dated for nearly two decades before they broke up, and after years of conjecture, she explained why they finally went their separate ways. Kourtney’s decision to share intimate details of her relationship with the world was documented on video at a family reunion that Scott also attended. The Kardashian-Jenner clan (including Scott) reunited with Andy Cohen for a special after the series finale in the summer of 2021.
When asked if she and Scott had hooked up since their breakup more than six years ago, Kourtney responded: “No.” “Most people won’t accept it, but we’ve already done so. in all seriousness.” The typical Scott response was a joke: “How obnoxious!” In response to Cohen’s questioning about the initial breakup, Kourtney explained that Scott’s substance misuse rather than infidelity was at blame. Scott and Kourtney’s romance ended in July 2015 after nine years together.
Kourtney has acknowledged that Scott’s substance misuse was the real reason she and Disick broke up, despite widespread speculation that the photos of him kissing stylist Chloe Bartoli in Monte Carlo were to blame. Disick checked himself into a rehabilitation centre in October 2015 for treatment of his substance abuse problems. Kourtney remarked, “I think the substance usage was the deal-breaker because I only found out about the infidelity at the end.”
Scott broke down and admitted after Kourtney: “For once, I don’t feel the need to justify my actions. These are things I never would have done if I had been sober, but they were wrong. To be perfectly frank, I just assumed that that was how things always worked.” Kourtney answered “probably” when host Cohen wondered if their relationship would have survived if they hadn’t talked so much on the programme, a bittersweet moment for sure. Also, she said “I believe there is a purpose to every event. It worked out that way because that’s how it was supposed to go.”
The two stars of Girls Gone Wild, Kourtney and Scott, first crossed paths at a party Joe Francis threw in Mexico in 2006. They dated on and off for years before finally reuniting in 2009 and having their son Mason the same year. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Penelope Scotland Disick, in July 2012, and their second child, a son named Reign Aston Disick, in December 2014.
Kourtney and Scott’s three children have been co-parented by their new partners since their parents’ divorce. Kourtney has had several high-profile relationships, including with Younes Bendjima, Sofia Ritchie, and most recently, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Amelia Gray. These days, she is engaged to Travis Barker, and rumours have it that Scott is seeing model Rebecca Donaldson.
In an episode of The Kardashians airing on Hulu, Kourtney discussed the controversy that surrounded her split from Scott and the beginning of her romance with Barker. Kourtney revealed in a tell-all interview that she and Scott had been separated for seven years and that she had given him “ten years before that,” so she does not see the big problem and that people should “let’s not hate on a girl who knows what she deserves.” On Hulu, you can watch The Kardashians every Thursday.

After nearly a decade together, Kourtney and Scott finally broke up in 2015. They started dating in 2006, but their relationship was quite on-and-off, with several breakups. They currently share parenting responsibilities for their three children, Mason (12), Penelope (9), and Reign (7). After Scott was pictured partying on a yacht with his ex-girlfriend Chloe Bartoli, rumours began to circulate that Kourtney had broken off her engagement to him for good.
As of May 2017, the mother-of-three had been seeing Younes Bendjima for a year, and this was just a few months before Scott started dating Sofia Richie for a total of three years.
