 Jovana admitted afterward that her busy schedule helped her improve her speaking and reporting abilities. She was able to work at numerous channels, including reporting for Orange Country News Channel. Although she was hired as a reporter by KNSD in San Diego, she left both of them and continued her journalism career there.

She won an Emmy Award for reporting on the 1997 El Nino mudslides that washed away a tiny area near Tijuana, and two more of Jovana’s stories were nominated for the award that same year.

She also received honors from the San Diego Press Club, and in 2000 she received an offer to work for ABC7 Eyewitness. She earned two additional Emmys for her co-hosting duties on Vista Los Angeles.

More than 18 years ago, Jovana wed Dr. Randy Brooks. They have two kids: a son named Hunter, who is now 12 years old, and a daughter named Alex, who is currently 17. Despite having a demanding job, Jovana constantly finds time for her family.

She took her daughter on a brief trip to Prague and other European destinations. They also celebrated Alex’s debut at the Los Angeles Links Cotillion Ball.

She underwent a six-month educational program that included leadership training, dance rehearsals, and more than 100 hours of volunteer work, culminating in a ball where 26 debutants danced to a classically choreographed routine in front of hundreds of family members and friends.

Alex, according to Jovana, followed in the footsteps of her aunt and grandmother, who also made their Links debuts when they were in their adolescent years.
