Is Kyle Rittenhouse Hispanic Or Caucasian? Name Origin Explained!

Since shooting two men, Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, on the evening of August 25, 2020, and wounding another, Gaige Grosskreutz, 28, Kyle Rittenhouse has been in the news. His life has always drawn much attention, but that interest has increased since racial rumors started dominating social media conversations.

After he received a “not guilty” verdict, the topic of race came up again, with some people on social media claiming that if he had been Black, the verdict would have been different. He was accused of first-degree intentional homicide. First-degree attempted intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18, and use of a dangerous weapon, among other offenses.

Rittenhouse was cleared of all charges by the jury on Friday, November 19, though, which infuriated many people and made them angry with the US justice system.

The issue arose following a Snopes report that asserted different Wisconsin court case records described Rittenhouse’s race differently. Snopes was formerly known as the Urban Legends Reference Pages. When the teenager was stopped by police on August 19, 2020, for driving without a license and exceeding the speed limit by about 20 mph, one report labeled him “Hispanic,” while the other filed for the incident on August 25, listed him as “Caucasian.”

Though the reason behind the race difference in the records is unknown, a disclaimer with the database said, “This designation listed in the race field is subjective. It is provided to the court by the agency that filed the case,” Lt. Joseph Nosalik, of the Kenosha Police Department, told Snopes that his agency’s records listed Rittenhouse as a “white male.”
