Ana De Armas Keanu Reeves Movie: Gee Malik Linton, credited as Declan Dale and who wrote and directed the 2016 American thriller Exposed (formerly titled Daughter of God), made his debut as a director.

The movie stars Mira Sorvino, Christopher McDonald, Big Daddy Kane, Ana de Armas, and Keanu Reeves. On January 22, 2016, Lionsgate Premiere released the movie in a limited theatre run and on video on demand.

Exposed (2016 film) Plot

Detective Galban, a police officer, looks into the circumstances surrounding the death of Detective Joey Cullen, his partner. A police cover-up attempt and a dangerous secret involving an unexpected young woman are brought on by the mysterious case.

At first glance, the two parallel storylines don’t seem to have anything in common. Still, as things slowly develop in the two distinct urban settings, the young woman, Isabel De La Cruz, seems to have some connection to the detective’s demise.

Detective Cullen was a corrupt and despicable person. His coworkers worry that these details will come to light during the investigation into his death. The police force would receive negative news, and his family would lose his pension.

The young ex-convict, one of the case’s top suspects and reportedly sexually abused with a broomstick by Detective Cullen, is the source of the anxiety. Precinct managers would prefer to let the murderer go free than to cause a Pandora’s Box of issues for everyone involved.

In the meantime, Elisa is a young girl that Isabel befriends in her personal life. Elisa’s father is allegedly abusing her at home, according to Isabel. Additionally, she thinks the unusual creatures she has started spotting on the streets are angels. She, therefore, believes that her enigmatic, “impossible” pregnancy is a gift from God, a belief that no one else is ready to share.

Isabel moves back in with her parents. A flashback of her father’s molestation from many years ago occurs to Isabel when Elisa claims that her father has hurt her. A cascade of images suddenly releases all of Isabel’s dormant memories. The “angels” Isabel claims to have seen are her inventions.

She made them go with a fake story that would take the place of the horrific recollections of being raped by Detective Cullen on the train platform the night her “visions” started. The memory of catching him off surprise afterward and killing him in a fit of just wrath was further repressed.

Isabel kills her father to protect Elisa in response to the flashbacks and Elisa’s sobbing. Then, Detective Galban is dispatched to the crime scene. Elisa is shown to be another creation of Isabel’s imagination when Galban examines an old family portrait. The made-up girl is a young Isabel. Elisa ultimately vanishes as Isabel pleads for the courage to accept everything that has happened in church.

Exposed (2016 film) Production

Following the same news on April 4 for Eli Roth’s Knock Knock, it was revealed on September 6, 2014, that Keanu Reeves and Ana de Armas would co-star in and produce the film Daughter of God. Reeves and Robin Gurland would also serve as producers. Remark Films began co-financing its first project on November 7th.

Mira Sorvino joined the movie on November 8. Christopher McDonald, Big Daddy Kane, Michael Rispoli, and Laura Gómez make up the rest of the cast. Carlos José Alvarez was supposed to compose the film’s music in December 2014.

Filming

Early November 2014 saw the start of principal photography in New York City. In Brooklyn, filming was happening on November 26.

Controversy

The first narrative dealt with child sexual abuse, violence against women, mass incarceration, and police violence conducted under the guise of the state’s power and was a surreal bilingual drama akin to Pan’s Labyrinth and Irreversible. The Lionsgate Premiere execs believed they had been sold a Keanu Reeves cop-thriller.

During the editing stage, Lionsgate shifted the narrative’s emphasis to center on Reeves’ character, turning the movie into a crime thriller to boost the movie’s potential box office. The movie’s director, Gee Malik Linton, is listed on the credits using the alias Declan Dale.
