As a co-author (with Dick Lochte), Al has written a series of murder mysteries starring a celebrity chef turned amateur sleuth named Billy Blessing. The Morning Show Murders (2009), The Midnight Show Murders (2010), and The Talk Show Murders (2011) make up the series; “The Midnight Show Murders” was nominated for a 2011 Nero Award and was adapted into a TV movie in 2018 by Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
