Authorities didn’t discover any proof that Travis ever mistreated Arias.
Arias said during her testimony at her trial that before Travis started abusing her, she was also used as a young child. She said that Travis was secretly drawn to young boys and girls, even though police once more discovered no proof of this.
In a later interview with Inside Edition, she reassured the audience that she would never be found guilty of killing her ex-boyfriend. She later started giving interviews while incarcerated.
Travis endured extreme pain and eventually passed away when Arias slit his throat, severing his jugular vein, trachea, and common carotid artery, according to the prosecution’s case during the trial.
“She repeatedly stabbed him to ensure his death, and she finally finished him off by severing his throat. It is also sure that Mr. Alexander suffered during this incident. Despite Arias’ attempts to portray a life of suffering at the hands of Travis, a jury found her guilty of first-degree murder on May 7, 2013. A retrial was necessary for the sentencing portion of the trial because the jury could not decide whether Arias should receive the death penalty or life in prison. When the jury couldn’t agree on a punishment once more in 2015, a judge gave Arias a life sentence.
After a restitution hearing in 2014, Arias was mandated to provide Travis’ family with more than $32,000. It’s been ten years since Travis, a Mormon whose Mormonism helped him excel as an author and motivational speaker, was brutally murdered by Arias.
Arias, who formerly had a carefree lifestyle and loved to travel, now spends her time at the Perryville prison’s maximum security wing in Goodyear, Arizona. She has complained about the prison cuisine while boasting about how much “love” she received there and how many premium television channels she watched.
