After Kessinger learned of the disappearances in August 2018, she said she questioned Watts for answers with police. She can repeatedly ask him, “What did you do, Chris?” throughout the clip. What happened? She said, “I said, ‘Where’s your family?'” and that she had messaged Watts once more before ending their friendship.

Consequently, I sent Chris one final text message in which I warned him, “If you do anything bad, you’re going to ruin your life, and you’re going to ruin my life. That much, I swear to you. He replied, “I didn’t hurt my family, Nicky.” A final message was sent, and it was that. “After that, I cut off all communication with him,” she continued.

Kessinger was heartbroken because she accepted Watts’ false claims that he was separated and divorcing his wife. Weld County District Attorney’s Office documents claim that immediately after their affair began in July 2018, Kessinger googled “Man I’m having an affair with says he would leave his wife.”

On August 13, 2018, Watts murdered his wife, Shanann, and their daughters, Bella and Celeste. As of this writing, Watts is serving five life sentences and an additional 48 years in jail at the Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin.

Kessinger stated that she wanted to legally alter her name because she felt it would be difficult to go public with her current identification.

While incarcerated in Dodge Correctional Institution in Wisconsin, he claims she kept in touch with him through pen pal letters, using a different name each time.

He continued by saying that this was one of the consequences he faced as a result of the authorities finding out and forbidding him from having any contact with her.
