Following his time at Eastern, LaFleur went to Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant to help with the offense in 2004 and 2005.
He worked as a quarterback and wide receivers coach for Northern Michigan University in Marquette in 2006. In 2007, LaFleur oversaw the offense for the Ashland University Eagles of the Ohio college football league. After that, in 2008, the Houston Texans brought LaFleur on as an offensive assistant.
