How Did Amy Carlson From ‘Dateline’ Pass Away? Was She Murdered?

Amy Carlson: Since its debut in 1992, NBC‘s “Dateline” has been a go-to for true crime fans as a news program that delves deeply into a wide range of real-life mysteries. It covers every topic in a way that gives us a view into what happened and why from terrifying kidnappings to mysterious deaths to terrible murders. Therefore, it stands to me that its episode “The Ascension of Mother God,” which details Amy Carlson’s demise, is no different. And if you’re interested in learning more about the specifics of this puzzling case, we’ve got you covered.

How Did Amy Carlson From ‘Dateline’ Pass Away?

Lia “Amy” Carlson Stroud was the founder of the now-defunct, obscure religious organization Love Had Won (LHW) when she passed away. Lia was a former McDonald’s employee from Texas. Many people have labeled this organization as a cult. According to a Vice News documentary from March 2021, the “Mother God” promised her followers “an alternate reality” if they followed their instructions.

She claimed to be in her 534th reincarnation to save the planet, with some of them including Jesus Christ and Marilyn Monroe, in her somewhat imaginative teachings by Amy Carlson. Amy Carlson genuinely thought she could heal cancer and communicate with the spirit and soul of the late star Robin Williams. The 45-year-mummified old’s remains were discovered in a remote cul-de-sac close to Moffat, Colorado, however, bringing an abrupt end to all of this around April 2021.

The body was discovered on the 28th, according to a house resident who went to the police station to report it. He said he noticed it right away after getting home after being away for a bit. Around midnight, when authorities raided the house, they were perplexed that the other seven occupants seemed unconcerned by the corpse. Since the bones in the back bedroom were so severely decayed, they could be easily distinguished from the remains in the hallway connecting the kitchen and living room, which appeared to have been placed in some shrine.

Unquestionably, the woman was wrapped in a sleeping bag decorated with Christmas lights, and glitter had been placed on her vacant eye sockets. She also had grey skin, and her lips were open enough to see her teeth. The body was Amy Carlson’s eventually, according to DNA testing, which took some time. Not death, but rather an “ascension” to a higher realm, was how her adherents perceived it.

Amy Carlson’s cause of death has not yet been established. According to her and many of her followers, she was battling cancer and paralyzed from the waist down, which her family believes was not treated or confirmed by medical personnel. Authorities also think Amy died in California, where she was last seen alive on April 10 and was then relocated to Colorado to be with her LHW supporters. Even more shockingly, they admitted that she was taking massive doses of colloidal silver despite the FDA’s warnings against it as a treatment for covid-19.

Was Amy Carlson Murdered?

The seven suspects and alleged LHW adherents at the house where Amy Carlson’s body was found were detained and charged on April 28 directly on a few offenses against each of them, including abuse of a corpse and tampering with a dead person’s body.

Since a 13-year-old and a 2-year-old were present in the home when police arrived to conduct their investigation, all seven were further charged with two misdemeanors for child neglect and abuse. However, by the end of September, it was discovered that all seven had had their counts removed, but it is unknown for what reason.

Despite the absence of evidence in the public domain suggesting that Amy Carlson was killed, her family continues to wonder about the circumstances of her passing. Since she left everything behind to join the cult, it doesn’t seem they were particularly close, but it doesn’t matter anymore; they want answers.

In a BBC interview, her younger sister said that she had always feared that Amy Carlson’s leadership of LHW would end tragically. Amy Carlson’s sister proclaimed, “We know she’s not entirely innocent in this whole thing since she chose to join this cult.” She didn’t deserve what ultimately happened to her, but that’s also true. No person deserves that.
