Chris Kattan Neck Surgery And Pneumonia Battle Create Emergency For Surgery!

After battling pneumonia, Chris Kattan was admitted to the hospital and underwent an emergency procedure, according to PEOPLE.

The former Saturday Night Live performer, 52, recently developed streptococcus, a severe case of pneumonia, and was taken to the hospital on Saturday, according to TMZ. The same bacteria that causes strep throat also causes streptococcus.

According to the publication, he underwent an urgent successful procedure and will be discharged on Friday.

After hearing the news, Chris Kattan’s girlfriend, Maria Libri, posted a picture of the two on Instagram, wishing him a speedy recovery.

After a severe pneumonia scare, “this precious, wonderful man of mine is on the road to recovery,” she wrote. “He always looks out for us; now it’s our turn to look out for him.

Chris Kattan previously discussed his health with PEOPLE in 2017 and described a life-altering injury that required a 20-year rehabilitation.

“I was doing a stunt, and I knew something was wrong, but I didn’t believe it was severe,” Kattan remembered. “I got checked out, and the doctor told me I’d broken my neck. It wasn’t until, maybe, two days later — that my arm started to atrophy.”

Chris Kattan underwent a little treatment to attempt to heal his neck after being told he would become paralyzed if he didn’t undergo surgery as soon as possible.

I couldn’t picture having a piece of a machine, an automobile, or any other metal on my back. I got what was called a noninvasive surgery from a man who was [practicing Eastern medicine] because it just didn’t make sense to me,” he added of the treatment, which involved fusing levels in his neck.

Chris Kattan had to stay in the hospital for weeks after the “noninvasive” surgery and needed physical rehabilitation.

“My body had to relearn how to talk to my nerves. Despite being bedridden, I wanted to leave. The actor stated, “What sucked was that I couldn’t tell other people. The nurse said, ‘You can’t; you have to stay in bed. I kept it a secret from my managers and my agents.

Regarding what was happening, I lied. I didn’t want my work to be impacted. Therefore I didn’t let them see me.

Chris Kattan was told to take up to six months off work to recover, but he was back at work in just 60 days, and the comic spent the years that followed had many surgeries as his recuperation proved difficult.
