Rhodora Donahue Obituary: The Rhodora J. Donahue Academy of Ave Maria in Florida’s Rhodora Donahue of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has passed away. He flew during the airlifts that transported supplies into Berlin after World War II, and he finally worked his way up to become the Strategic Air Command’s chief pilot. During the war, he started out as a fighter pilot.

He brought in supplies to make this happen. Promotions in the Army, however, were not exclusively dependent on one’s aptitude at the time; rather, they were also influenced by a slotting system that was linked to one’s date of Academy graduation. The primary determinant of one’s place in the slotting system was the date on which they graduated from the Academy.

Slots were assigned to applicants in accordance with the sequence in which they graduated from the Military Academy. This caused him to leave the Army in 1950 and return to Pittsburgh, where he started a mutual fund sales business from his kitchen table.

He continued doing this until he had enough success to relocate it to Pittsburgh. He kept doing this up until he had reached a point of success where he could move the company to Pittsburgh. He was certain in his belief that funds will become the preferred investment option for the entire country since they gave common people access to expert money management.

Because funds gave common people access to skilled money management, he was certain that would occur. He reasoned that this would make funds the preferred investment instrument for the entire country, which would be advantageous for the funds.

Although Mr. Rhodora had job offers from New York and other cities, he ultimately chose to settle in Pittsburgh since he had no other choice. He was compelled to choose this. Mr. Rhodora always made the trek back to Pittsburgh whenever he had time off from his military service.

His family had lived in this city consistently for the last six generations, making it their hometown. He was enthralled by the city’s lengthy history and rich cultural traditions, and he lived to witness the transformation of the city’s economy from one based on manufacturing to one that was based on education, healthcare, and finance.

He was deeply affected by both of these historical facets of the city. Both of these incidents left a lasting impression on his memory. He founded Federated in 1955 with Thomas R. Donnelly and Richard B. Fisher, also Central Catholic graduates, with the goal of establishing an investment management company in Pittsburgh that would support their growing families. They had all three received their diplomas from Central Catholic.

All three of them had received their diplomas from Central Catholic High School. The devoted wife of 70 years, Rhodora Jacob Donahue, and their 13 children, Katherine (Thomas Jr.) Freyvogel, J. Christopher (Ann) Donahue, Maribeth (Richard) Donley, Rhodora (Dick) Barton, Patricia (James) Dolan, and William, survive Mr. Rhodora, who was preceded in death by his mother Margaretta Bailey and father John Hanley Donahue.

The reception is open to guests from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on both Thursday, May 18, 2017, and Friday, May 19, 2017. The deceased person’s funeral service will be held in the church on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 11 a.m.

The funeral will be held at the church as a Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of the deceased. On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 pm and again between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm, guests will be welcomed.
