According to the UPD, search and rescue operations continued until 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday before picking back up at 7:15 a.m. The resort, which doesn’t open until eight in the morning, closed its Apex, Summit, and Sunrise lifts until the skier was located. Around 10 a.m., those lifts were once again in operation.

The resort was covered in snow both before and during the search. The storm that started on Sunday evening and lasted until Monday reported 16 inches of snowfall in Solitude. According to the forecasting website OpenSnow.com, it received 10 inches on Tuesday.

It was Solitude’s second demise in a given year. A 38-year-old Intermountain Healthcare transplant surgeon perished in February after plunging from a 100-foot cliff while skiing at the resort.
