Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches comes to AMC: On January 8 at 9 p.m. ET, AMC will screen the world premiere of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches. On Sunday, AMC+ subscribers might get the opportunity to view it a little earlier.

Mayfair Witches, from the authors and executive producers of Masters of Sex Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford, is based on Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches series. Spalding will also serve as the show’s creator as part of her overall contract with AMC Studios.

The story will center on a perceptive young neurosurgeon who learns she is the improbable heir to a witch lineage. She must battle a terrible force that has followed her family for many generations as she wrestles with her newly discovered skills.

AMC Studios will produce eight episodes for the television adaptation. The projects based on his late mother’s legendary works that AMC Networks will purchase in 2020 have Christopher Rice serving as executive producer. After the Interview with the Vampire television series, this is the second project in the growing Anne Rice universe on the network.

Mayfair Witches focuses on the first book in the series, The Witching Hour, and follows Dr. Rowan Fielding, a neurosurgeon who discovers she is the heir and descendant of a powerful family of witches who appear to be possessed by a sinister ghost.

Is A Mayfair Witches Trailer Available?

The recently released Mayfair Witches’ official trailer most likely makes you think of Interview with the Vampire, although there aren’t any blood-sucking zombies roaming the streets (or are there?). Most likely, the similarities between the two works lie in their gloomy, gothic atmosphere and tension-filled plot.

The trailer implies that, as with her other works, Rice will approach the lives of witches from the perspective of a clueless beginner who will research the Mayfair dynasty’s past to learn her true identity. The magnificent and slightly surreal photography in the teaser also hints that this fantasy story will be a step above and beyond what we often see in the genre.

It nearly seems like playing a story-driven video game. The series will also examine magic and folklore, secret organizations, and other similar aspects of witchcraft, in addition to all the imaginative places, which will add to the mystery of the experience. Rowan is also highlighted in a promotional video, which you can view below, as “the key.”

Who Is In The Cast Of Mayfair Witches?

For Mayfair Witches, AMC has assembled an intriguing supporting cast led by Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus), Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, and Jack Huston.

Along with Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair, the patriarch of the current Mayfair family, Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, and Huston as a shape-shifting entity connected to the witches’ family for centuries, Daddario stars as the story’s protagonist, Dr. Rowan Fielding, a neurosurgeon who learns about her ancestry related to the Mayfair dynasty of witches.

Grieve is not a character directly adapted from the source books; instead, he is a hybrid of two characters from The Witching Hour: Michael Curry and Aaron Lightner.

Other recurrent characters include Jen Richards as Jojo, Beth Grant as Carlotta Mayfair, Erica Gimpel as Ellie Mayfair, and Annabeth Gish as Deirdre Mayfair, Rowan’s estranged mother.

Who Is The Mayfair Witch Author?

The Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creators Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford are behind the successful AMC originals, and Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul were both produced by Mark Johnson.

American author, screenwriter, and poet Spalding is most known for his work on the television shows The Bridge on FX, Battle Creek on CBS, Masters of Sex on Showtime, and On Becoming a God in Central Florida on Showtime. The Pacific on HBO and Masters of Sex on Showtime are two of Ashford’s most well-known writing and producing credits.

He is an Emmy nominee. Michael Uppendahl (Mad Men), Haifaa Al-Mansour (Tales of the Walking Dead), and Axelle Carolyn are the directors of Mayfair Witches (The Midnight Club). Executive producers include Anne Rice and her son Christopher Rice.

When And Where Were The Movies Mayfair Witches Shot?

New Orleans, where Rice was born and where her antebellum home where The Witching Hour is set, served as the location for the filming of Mayfair Witches. Early in September 2022, the series’ production came to an end.

When And Where Were The Movies Mayfair Witches Shot?

The first AMC adaptation of Anne Rice’s eternal universe, Interview with the Vampire, was published this fall. Mayfair Witches is the second. The Mayfair Witches film is based on Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches book series.

The Witching Hour, the first novel in the trilogy, launched the series in 1990. Lasher and Taltos followed in 1993 and 1994, respectively. The three books were all listed as best sellers in the New York Times. The witches in the trilogy are a prominent and robust family led by a spirit named Lasher.

Rowan Mayfair, a member of the Mayfair family of New Orleans and its most recent heir, is introduced in the first book. The family is a witch dynasty that communicates and rules over a dominant force known as Lasher.

With Rowan joining the family, the coven is complete, and she becomes the 13th witch, making her the key and the series’ primary subject. Interview with the Vampire, starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, and Queen of the Damned, starring Aaliyah, were both early Hollywood adaptations of Rice’s second series, The Vampire Chronicles. In contrast to the film adaptations, the most recent AMC series seeks to explore further the Immortal Universe.

What Is The History Of The Mayfair Witches?

Mayfair Witches will center on Rowan, a young neurosurgeon from California, the protagonist of the first book in Anne Rice’s trilogy. Much to her horror, Rowan learns that she is the new heiress of a particular prominent Mayfair family after the recent passing of her estranged mother, Deirdre. She discovers that she has special abilities as she learns more about her ancestry and past.

Rowan must contend with a dark force that has been a part of the family and has followed them for generations as she wrestles with her newly discovered powers and tries to adjust to her new identity. Future episodes of the series—should it be approved for subsequent seasons—might feature the remaining two novels in the series.
