Nicole Kidman is advancing toward the camera from behind it.

The CIA drama Lioness, which Paramount+ will release, will star the Oscar winner alongside Zoe Saldana, it was announced Thursday. Kidman’s production business, Blossom Films, had already secured her a position as an executive producer.

Based on a real-life CIA program, Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness follows Cruz Manuelos (Layla De Oliveira), a passionate but rough-around-the-edges young Marine chosen to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to assist in dismantling a terrorist organization from within. Saldana plays Joe, the program’s station chief tasked with developing, supervising, and guiding her female undercover operatives.

Kidman will portray Kaitlyn Meade, the senior supervisor of the CIA who has spent her entire career partaking in the game of politics. She must balance the responsibilities of being a woman in the high-ranking intelligence establishment, a wife who yearns for the attention she can’t even provide, and serving as a mentor to someone who appears to be headed down the same difficult path she has.

Jill Wagner, Dave Annable, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hebert, Hannah Love Lanier, Stephanie Nur, and Jonah Wharton are also featured in the movie Lioness.

Along with Sheridan, Saldana, and Kidman, executive producers David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Wagner, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Malone, and John Hillcoat also contributed to the film.
