Netflix Confirms Wednesday Season 2 Renewal!

Netflix Confirms Wednesday Season 2 Renewal: It’s official: Netflix has ordered a second season of “Wednesday.”

The “Addams Family” spinoff starring Jenna Ortega was one of the streaming giant’s most well-liked programs ever and established a platform record for the most English-language television hours seen in a week.

Though no formal renewal announcement had been made months after the show’s November premiere, fans conjectured that Season 2 was in peril, with some noting Amazon’s purchase of “Wednesday” producer MGM last year.

With a season 2 trailer and a renewal announcement on Friday, Netflix ended the rumors. There are few specifics, and Netflix has disclosed neither a release date nor a cast list.

“Thanks to everyone who made this upcoming season possible,” Ortega said on Twitter Friday. “This has all been pretty surreal.”

Also responding to the news was Catherine Zeta-Jones, who in the first season played Morticia, the legendary mother of Wednesday: “So there you have it!!!! The greatest news! P.S. Wednesday almost grinned… That’s how delicious it is,” she gushed on Instagram.

The first season of the Netflix horror comedy series focused on Wednesday as she “investigates a murder spree while meeting new friends — and foes at Nevermore Academy,” according to the synopsis. According to comments made by the show’s makers, Wednesday will return to the enigmatic school in the upcoming season.

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the show’s creators, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter that it has been amazing to produce a program that has resonated with viewers worldwide. I’m excited to carry on with Wednesday’s torturous season two voyage. We can’t wait to explore Nevermore’s weird, eerie world in yet another season. We only need to confirm that Wednesday didn’t empty the pool first.

Gough told The Hollywood Reporter that he and Millar were eager to deepen Wednesday’s connections to Morticia and Enid, her roommate and pal at Nevermore.
