Golden Globe Winner Austin Butler Thanks Priscilla, Lisa Marie Presley As He Accepts Award: ‘Love You Forever’

Golden Globe Winner Austin Butler Thanks Priscilla,: While accepting the Golden Globe for best actor in a dramatic motion picture for his work in “Elvis,” Austin Butler paid homage to the King of Rock and Roll himself and his family.

The late music icon’s ex-wife Priscilla Presley and their daughter Lisa Marie Presley, both present at the 2023 awards ceremony on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, also received thanks from the 31-year-old actor.

Hugh Jackman (“The Son”), Brendan Fraser (“The Whale”), Jeremy Pope (“The Inspection”), and Bill Nighy were among the nominees Butler faced off against (“Living”).

The director of “Elvis,” Baz Luhrmann, also nominated at the ceremony, received gratitude from the star of “The Carrie Diaries.”

“I owe this to a fearless, visionary director who gave me the freedom to take risks and who I always felt would be there to back me. “Baz Luhrmann, I adore you,” he said. “Thank you for believing in me when I couldn’t even believe in myself. I’m appreciative of you. I also want to thank Mr. Tom Hanks, who has been the best dance partner I could have ever wished for.

Denzel Washington, who recommended Butler to Luhrmann after the two of them collaborated on the Broadway revival of “The Iceman Cometh,” received praise from Butler.

Butler, from Anaheim, California, claimed he was not channeling his character’s unmistakable Southern twang during his victory speech, despite numerous social media users making the observation.

“I didn’t even think about it,” he told reporters backstage. “I don’t think I still sound like him, but I must because I hear it all the time.”

Then Butler continued, “I frequently compare that to when someone spends a long time living abroad.
