Snoop Dogg Murder Case: Tory Lanez’s New Lawyer Helped Snoop Dogg Beat 1993 Murder Case!

Snoop Dogg Murder Case: The new attorney representing Tory Lanez has a track record of winning significant court cases for rappers, having previously aided Snoop Dogg in winning his 1993 murder conviction.

Following a high-profile trial in December, the rapper from Toronto who was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020 reorganized his legal team earlier this month.

As he prepared to appeal his conviction, Tory fired George Mgdesyan, his defense counsel, and hired David Kenner. Mgdesyan justified the decision to Rolling Stone’s Nancy Dillon by saying, “I don’t do appeals, so we had to get somebody on board to handle the appeal.”

Although Kenner has a history of representing Suge Knight in court, Law & Crime writer Meghan Cuniff, who covered the Tory Lanez-Megan Thee Stallion trial, brought attention to another of Kenner’s connections to Death Row Records (January 9).

“Kenner’s biggest claim to fame appears to be getting Snoop Dogg acquitted of murder aka ‘murder was the case that they gave me,’” she wrote on Twitter. “He told me he has a video of Snoop at his 80th birthday party saying, ‘Without David Kenner, there’d be no Snoop Dogg.’”

The infamous 1996 murder trial of Snoop Dogg, which focused on the shooting death of an L.A. gang member named Philip Woldemariam three years earlier, was handled by Kenner, now 81.

Snoop was accused of first- and second-degree murder as well as voluntary manslaughter and conspiracy to conduct assault, along with his bodyguard McKinley Lee. Snoop was charged with being an accessory after the fact as well.

The jury declared Snoop and Lee not guilty of the murder counts following six days of deliberations. Following the announcement of the verdict, the rapper known as Doggystyle was notably seen bending his head and clasping his hands together as if in prayer.

Along with the short film and music of the same name that came out the following year, he also addressed the issue in his 1993 song “Murder Was the Case.”

“They made the right decision,” Snoop, 24, told reporters while leaving the courthouse. “This has been an ordeal that has affected our lives for the past two-and-a-half years. I was trying to figure out if I would be here to raise my son.”

A Moment in Time: Murder was the Case, a TV series about the trial, was in the works when 50 Cent revealed it in December 2021. His later admission that the show was “no longer in development at STARZ” and his criticism of the network for “drop[ping] the damn ball” contrasted with his earlier declaration.

Regarding Kenner’s relationship with Suge Knight, Cuniff emphasized that the seasoned lawyer didn’t represent the co-founder of Death Row Records in the 2015 hit-and-run case that led to his 28-year jail term. She continued, “He defended him in a robbery case back in the 1990s and got him probation.

Nancy Dillon revealed that Kenner has even closer ties to hip-hop, as he is now defending Fugees member Pras Michel in a criminal conspiracy case where it is alleged that Pras assisted Malaysian financier Jho Low in secretly funding American politicians.

Tory Lanez‘s replacement of counsel will be finalized in court on Tuesday (January 10), but post-conviction motions are not anticipated to be brought up anytime soon.

Lanez could be sentenced to 22 years and 8 months in jail and expelled to his native Canada. On January 27, he is scheduled to be punished. Follow Newswatchlist.com for more information. You can also leave your thoughts in the comment section, and don’t forget to bookmark our website.
