Mega Millions: 4 Tickets Sold In NY Worth $1 Million Each But Maine Claims Jackpot: A ticket purchased in Maine matched the winning numbers for the lottery’s estimated $1.35 billion grand prize, giving the state its first Mega Millions jackpot and helping someone escape the bad luck of Friday the 13th.
The drawing was held on Friday night, and the Maine ticket purchased matched all six numbers. With a Megaball of 14, the winning numbers were 61, 30, 45, 46, and 43.
According to a lottery official who spoke to NBC News, the winning ticket was bought at Hometown Gas & Grill in Lebanon, Maine. The retailer will get a bonus of $50,000 for selling the ticket.
Additionally, 14 tickets worth $1 million were drawn. Four of those winning tickets were purchased at stores in Manhattan, Long Island City, Newburgh, and Plainview in, New York. The ten additional second-tier tickets were distributed in the following states: Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, California, and Florida.
The unnamed lucky winner beat long odds of 1 in 302.6 million, which resulted in three months of lotteries without a jackpot claim.
Pat McDonald, the director of the Ohio lottery and the head of the Mega Millions Consortium, issued a statement early on Saturday saying, “Congratulations to the Maine State Lottery, which has won its first-ever Mega Millions jackpot.
The prize was the second-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history and the fourth $1 billion jackpot in the game’s history. In October 2018, a single ticket holder in South Carolina scooped the $1.53 billion top Mega Millions prize.
The seventh time a grand prize winner on Friday the 13th, a day superstitiously thought unlucky, occurred in Friday’s successful drawing.
The winner would need to take the money in an annuity with monthly payments spread over 29 years to receive the $1.35 billion. Most jackpot winners preferred the less expensive but faster cash option, which was predicted to be worth $724.6 million for Friday night’s drawing.
According to the Mega Millions website, there was a winner of the estimated $1.35 billion jackpot, which also states that the next grand prize will be $20 million, and the cash option will be $10.7 million.
There was no jackpot winner in 25 consecutive drawings until Friday night.
Along with 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the US Virgin Islands, Mega Millions is also played there. Follow Newswatchlist.com for more information. You can also leave your thoughts in the comment section, and don’t forget to bookmark our website.
