According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, actor and comedian Andy Dick was detained early on Friday in Lake Elsinore for public intoxication and failing to register as a sex offender.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to O’Haras Rock & Roll Tavern in the 15700 block of Grand Avenue at 12:30 a.m. for a complaint of a drunk person who might have been using drugs. Deputies came across Andy Dick, 57, without incident and took him into custody.

Authorities discovered Andy Dick, a resident of Hemet, was a sex offender whose registration had expired during a regular records check. He was accused of being intoxicated in public and not registering as a sex offender.

Andy Dick was obliged to register as a sex offender after being released. He was also required to attend 52 sessions of both Sexual Compulsion Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous as part of his probation.

Andy Dick, a stand-up comedian and actor in the 1990s sitcom “NewsRadio,” had a lengthy history of arrests, several of which involved accusations of public intoxication and assault.

Andy Dick was detained on suspicion of felony sexual battery in May 2022 after a man reported a suspected attack at Orange County’s O’Neill Regional Park. After the alleged victim declined to comply, the prosecution dropped the case, according to the Orange County Register.

Police were called to a report of a drunk person at a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant in Murrieta, about 80 miles east of Los Angeles, in 2008. They detained Andy Dick, who was highly intoxicated, in possession of marijuana and Xanax, and accused of fondling a 17-year-old girl’s breast and pulling down her top in the restaurant’s parking lot.

He avoided being charged with a crime and ultimately confessed to misdemeanor violence and drug charges.

Andy Dick was granted free on a $5,000 bail following his arrest in Lake Elsinore. On May 5, he is due to make his appearance at the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center.
