Mechanicsburg Woman Killed In Crash In Tuscarora Tunnel On Pennsylvania Turnpike Accident!
The Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Tuscarora Tunnel crash that claimed the life of a Cumberland County lady happened on Wednesday.
At about 7:30 p.m., a statement was issued by Pennsylvania State Police regarding the deadly collision.
The victim was driving a 2007 Chrysler minivan west on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. She was only given her age as 64. During the construction of the Tuscarora Tunnel, a crossover zone was set up to send all traffic into the eastbound tunnel for two-way traffic. For eastbound and westbound traffic, there are typically separate tunnels.
“The minivan’s failure to move into the eastbound lane caused the initial impact. The outcome was that the minivan ran through many barricades and hit some of them, “PSP issued a statement. The minivan then moved around two truck-mounted attenuators with actuated arrow boards placed in each of the two westbound lanes of traffic.

The minivan struck the rear of a high-lift loader that was in use and was parked as it entered the tunnel, according to PSP. No harm came to the operator.
The minivan was severely damaged, according to the police, and the driver was dead.
The Tuscarora Tunnel is slightly over a mile long and is one of the longest on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
