The UGA Athletics Association honored LeCroy and Willock.

“Devin and Chandler were two special people who meant so much to the University of Georgia, our football program, and our athletic department,” the association said in a statement. “We ask that everyone keep their families in your prayers during this challenging time.”

According to Georgia’s football roster, Willock, a redshirt sophomore from New Milford, New Jersey, participated on the offensive line in each of the team’s 15 games this season.

Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy’s deaths have left everyone “heartbroken and distraught,” according to a statement sent by UGA head football coach Kirby Smart on Sunday morning.

Devin was, in every aspect, a remarkable young man. He was a fantastic teammate, a joy to coach, and was constantly smiling. Chandler was a crucial component of our football coaching staff, consistently bringing a great attitude and energy. We share their families’ grief over this awful loss, and we will do everything in our power to support them, the coach continued.

According to McClendon’s father, Warren McClendon Senior, who played football, the incident resulted in stitches applied to the football player’s forehead.

“Lil Warren was in the car that was involved in the accident, and he is doing well,” his father, Warren Sr., told the Athens Banner-Herald via text message on Sunday afternoon. “We ask everyone to pray for Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy’s family. We are with Lil Warren and will let everyone know more later. Thank you for your prayers.”

According to the father, McClendon was “devastated by the loss of his roommate and close friend,” The Banner-Herald continued.

After a day of celebration in Sanford Stadium with UGA players, coaches, and supporters in recognition of their second consecutive national championship, a terrible crash occurred.

On Saturday, a 7-year-old Georgia fan named Camdyn Gonzales met Willock and posed for a photo with him at a Texas Roadhouse in Athens. The child received a fistbump from the 6-foot-7-inch, 335-pound lineman, who also allowed him to wear his massive 2021 National Championship ring.

“Special thank u to @DevinWillock for taking time for my grandson when he didn’t have to. U went out of our way to make him feel special and made his day!! Good luck next year! Go Dawgs!” the boy’s grandfather, Sam Kramer, wrote in a tweet.

After meeting one of his heroes, Camdyn was awestruck, according to the grandfather. Kramer continued that Willock was “so full of life and delighted.” He was modest and thankful that we knew who he was and wanted to speak with him.

Jordan Davis, a former defensive lineman at Georgia currently playing for the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL, tweeted that he was devastated. “Over the past few years, I’ve enjoyed watching them develop and become like family. We love you like family, and there is no grief without love,” he added.

Georgia linebacker Nolan Smith said the deaths “hurt my heart man, all I have to say the GREAT ONES LEAVE TO SOON,” he wrote on Twitter. “@DevinWillock, I LOVE YOU FOREVER.”
