After a fight over a cheese slice, an Ohio police officer was seen on camera repeatedly striking a Black lady in the face, leaving her with a bleeding lip. He has since been placed on leave.
When Butler Township police Sgt. Todd Stanley and officer Tim Zellers were summoned to a McDonald’s due to a disturbance on Monday just before 5 o’clock.
The incident got started. After she got into an argument with a worker, the staff asked that Latinka Hancock “be formally trespassed from the property,” Chief John Porter said at a news conference on Wednesday.
Porter claimed that the cops frequently questioned Hancock about her identity, which he claimed is necessary when officers need to issue a trespass notice.
The cops sought to take her into custody after she resisted, according to the chief, according to footage from Sgt. Stanley’s police body camera, Hancock, was hit during the arrest.
In the video at the news conference, Hancock claimed that she disagreed with a staff member because the sandwich she ordered did not include the extra cheese she had paid for on her burger.
Hancock refused to give Stanley the information he requested when he indicated he needed to issue a trespass notice. The sergeant is heard saying, “You’re going to make things more difficult than it needs to be,” on the video.

Following a brief battle, Stanley was shown in both films punching Hancock in the face. Police said she was detained and accused of failing to provide identification and resisting arrest.
She was also given tickets for operating a vehicle while suspended and having an open container of alcohol nearby.

At a press conference, Hancock’s attorney Michael Wright stated that the incident “should have never occurred.” He criticized the officers’ handling of the event and claimed McDonald’s should be “ashamed” for calling the police.
Wright claims that Hancock departed McDonald’s after management asked them to do so. She waited outside the restaurant to tell the cops what had transpired.
It is a sad day, he observed, “when Ms. Latinka Hancock’s life has been turned upside down over a bit of cheese.”
According to Wright, Hancock had a closed head injury, a cracked lip, loose teeth, and a back injury. An inquiry for comment from McDonald’s did not immediately receive a response.

She remarked, “In that video, a woman explains herself. “It wasn’t that I was trying to be combative when he asked me to identify myself; it wasn’t that. I must sign a document for trespassing over a sandwich.”

Porter stated that Stanley had been placed on compensated administrative leave while the police department conducted an investigation.
The amount of “hate mail” the department received after a witness who recorded the event released the video online was one of the many reasons, the chief told reporters, why Stanley was put on leave. No leave of absence has been given to Zellers.
Friday, NBC News could not reach the police officers at their given phone numbers immediately. Attorney Wright demanded that Stanley be fired and argued that the sergeant should face assault charges.
