Three Marines Charged With Breaching Us Capitol

NEW YORK — According to a federal complaint that was unveiled on Thursday, a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton.

who allegedly told a social media friend that he was looking forward to “Civil war 2” has been charged with four federal crimes with the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Micah Coomer and two other active-duty Marines were each charged with four counts of disorderly behavior, breaking into a restricted area, and parading within the Capitol building by federal prosecutors in Washington.

According to an arrest warrant, FBI agents detained Coomer on Tuesday in Oceanside, close to the Marine Corps facility.

Joshua Abate, a co-defendant, was taken into custody on Tuesday at Ft. Meade, Maryland, not far from Washington. Dodge Dale Hellonen, the other suspect, was taken into custody on Wednesday in North Carolina close to Camp Lejeune.

The Department of Justice reports that the police have detained more than 950 persons more than two years after the takeover of the Capitol.

A few accused have ties to the area, and Ocean Beach resident Ashli Babbitt was murdered within the Capitol on that particular day.

Federal officials uncovered pictures that showed Coomer inside the Capitol building sporting a red “Make America Great Again” hat, jacket, and hoodie.

According to the investigators, Coomer’s Indiana driver’s license, military identity card, and Instagram profile photo contained images of the same individual.

According to the criminal complaint, images showed that the three Marines spent around 50 minutes inside the Capitol, the majority of which was spent in the Rotunda, where they posed for pictures with a statue while donning red “MAGA” hats.

When Abate was questioned for his security clearance in June of last year, he reportedly acknowledged entering the Capitol “with two ‘buddies,'” according to the lawsuit.

Other Marines assisted FBI agents in confirming the identities of all three men. He claimed in his interview that he and his buddies wandered around the structure while “trying not to get hit with tear gas,” and one of them lit up a cigarette in the Rotunda.

The FBI agent noted that Abate “also admitted he heard how the event was being depicted badly and concluded that he should not inform anybody about coming into the U.S. Capitol Building.”

On January 6, 2021, Joshua Abate, a fellow U.S. Marine, and Micah Coomer were both visible in the U.S. Capitol.

According to information released by the Marine Corps, Coomer is a corporal working as a system engineer for intelligence and surveillance systems at the 1st Radio Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group.

According to Military.com, the other two Marines were also involved in intelligence. Sergeant Abate is a signals intelligence operator and analyst for the Marine Corps Cryptologic Support Battalion at the Army post of Fort Meade.

According to the agent’s declaration, part of the criminal complaint, Coomer’s Instagram post sparked the inquiry into him and the other Marines.

According to authorities, Coomer captioned multiple images from outside and inside the Capitol building with the phrase “Glad to be a part of history.” The criminal complaint also contains three screenshots of photos from the post.

Three weeks after the Capitol hack, on January 31, 2021, Coomer said to another user that “everything in this country is corrupt. Sincerely, we require a fresh start. The complaint reads, “I’m waiting for the boogaloo.

The “boogaloo” movement is an unorganized far-right group whose members frequently hold anti-government beliefs and hope for or anticipate a civil war.

According to the complaint, when the other user questioned Coomer about what he meant by “boogaloo,” Coomer replied, “Civil war 2.”
