Since 2015, Riley Keough has been wed to Australian stunt performer Ben Smith-Petersen.

The actress, the offspring of the late Lisa Marie Presley and the musician Danny Keough, first met Smith-Petersen in 2012 while working on the movie Mad Max: Fury Road. Although they were briefly introduced on-site, the two didn’t begin dating until re-shoots in Australia a year later.

The two rapidly fell in love, and in 2014, Keough and the Australian stuntman announced their engagement. In February 2015, little than a year later, the pair exchanged vows.

“My husband is such a good person,” wrote Keough in a 2022 essay for Vogue Australia. “He’s calm and loyal and strong and sensitive. He’s my best friend.”

Smith-Petersen spoke on his wife’s behalf at Presley’s funeral in January 2023. When he read Keough’s statements, he revealed that the pair had welcomed a girl.

“I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters,” Smith-Petersen said.

Smith-Petersen has worked as a stuntman in several movies, including Suicide Squad and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

He is an actor as well. He appeared in the 2014 movie Spark and Light with Keough. According to Deadline, Smith-Petersen will also play the lead in the upcoming independent horror film The Dead Thing.

He Met Keough On The Set of Mad Max: Fury Road

They met while working together on the 2015 movie Mad Max: Fury Road, in which Keough and Smith-Petersen also starred. Smith-Petersen was cast as the Doof Warrior, Immortan Joe’s blind musician, while Keough was Capable, one of Immortan Joe’s five wives.

However, Keough and Smith-Petersen didn’t start dating until they reshot the movie in Australia.

He And Keough Fell In Love In Australia

Keough described Smith-Petersen and Keough’s courtship in a 2022 article for Vogue Australia. While conducting reshoots in Australia in 2013, they reconnected, and Keough “realized that I thought Ben was cute.”

Later, she wrote that she had invited the stuntman to stay at her friend’s Sydney home: “We had a couple of drinks, and I remember we had a connection. He started salsa dancing with me and teaching me because he grew up dancing. It was such a fun night. A few of us went to one of the bays for a swim, and it was magic.”

Keough continued, “We ended up kissing that night, and the next day we went camping Cove and got in the water, and I hugged him, and it felt like I didn’t want to be away from him. I just felt so comfortable.”

Keough revealed to USA Today in 2016 that she fell in love quickly and said, “We were at a gas station two weeks into our relationship when I said, “I could picture myself having kids with this person.” I felt a little bit as though I had already met my husband. Incredibly cool.”

He Married Keough In 2015

In August 2014, the pair made their engagement public. Keough was seen sporting a diamond ring in a photo that Smith-Petersen posted on Facebook with the simple statement, “So that happened.”

Keough and Smith-Petersen wed for the first time in Nepal, where they constructed a school at the time of their wedding in the United States. As Keough wrote in her column for Vogue Australia, “The families knew we were getting married, and they said, Let us throw you a Hindu wedding.” “That wedding was especially wonderful and, in some ways, more intimate since it was so lovely. I cried during the wedding. I wasn’t as present at my larger wedding because I was a little apprehensive. However, it was just as beautiful.”

On February 4, 2015, they exchanged vows in Napa Valley, California.

He And Keough Have Matching Tattoos

Keough revealed that the pair “had matching tattoos the third day we were out, just for fun” in her 2022 essay for Vogue Australia.

Smith-Petersen also has a tattoo in memory of his wife: The stuntman posted a photo on Instagram in September 2021 that showed the word “Riley” tattooed on his lower tummy.

He Has A Black Belt In Brazilian Jiu-jitsu

In April 2021, Keough announced on Instagram that her husband had earned his black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. She wrote of the accomplishment, “Ben got his black belt today in BJJ. He always wanted to get his black belt before he turned 30, and he did it!!! I’m so proud of you, @isitmeurlooking4.”

He And Keough Welcomed A Daughter In 2022

Smith-Petersen and Keough made their daughter’s paternity known during a Graceland in Memphis memorial service for Lisa Marie Presley.

“I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters. Thank you for giving me strength, heart, empathy, courage, a sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, and my tenacity. I’m a product of your heart, my sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart,” said Smith-Petersen of his mother-in-law, reading the words of his wife.
