The actress first gained notoriety on the popular medical program Grey’s Anatomy, where she has already appeared in an incredible 18 seasons as Dr. Meredith Grey. Ellen’s appearance undoubtedly changed when she initially joined Grey’s Anatomy, but could surgery be to blame for this change in appearance?
“The only thing that I can catch is possibly a facelift and a neck lift,” Dr. Vartan Mardirossian, board-certified facial plastic surgeon, and world-renowned facial feminization surgeon, has never treated the actress, exclusively told Closer Weekly of Ellen’s appearance.
Even though the celebrity has never received care from board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Miller, Ellen may have had work done but hasn’t received Botox. No Botox, he claimed, because “her eyes seem naturally old, and you can detect some creases on the forehead and crow’s feet.”
Ellen has already been open about aging in Hollywood and how it has affected her career. She spoke candidly to People in 2016 about how it was painful to watch oneself age for Grey’s Anatomy on-screen.
“Watching myself age on TV is miserable. To be honest, it’s the toughest part of my job,” she acknowledged. “But as uncomfortable as watching myself age is, I don’t think focusing on physical beauty is necessarily the best thing for your mind. It’s a natural thing that we all do, but I don’t think it’s the healthiest thing. The older you get, the more you realize life isn’t about your looks. Everyone ages, and it’s OK.”
In 2020, Ellen made another public statement about how difficult it had been to see herself portray Meredith for 17 seasons.
“To watch myself age from 33 to 50 now on screen, that’s not so fun. Because you really see it, because I’m in the same clothes, I’m in the same character. So the way I see myself aging, that’s a motherf—ker,” she revealed on Dax Shepard‘s Armchair Expert podcast.
Then, Ellen said she hadn’t “placed anything” in her well-known face. “I believe that controlling my ego at all times is the main objective of my existence. I don’t want to lie to myself. I don’t want to lie about my age, I don’t want to lie to myself about anything,” she stated.
