The Last Of Us Season 2 Renewed At HBO

The Last of Us, a well-known drama on HBO, will return for a second season. The video game-based series from Chernobyl creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann has already seen two episodes, but the premium cable provider announced today that it had been renewed.

After House of the Dragon, The Last of Us this month had the second-largest premiere since the debut of Boardwalk Empire in 2010. Domestically, Episode 1 has attracted more than 22 million viewers, more than five times as many as on the debut night on January 15. On Sunday night in the US, Episode 2 attracted 5.7 million people across HBO Max and linear broadcasts.

This represents the highest Week 2 audience growth for any HBO Original drama series and is roughly a million more viewers than the audience who watched the premiere episode. The show is also popular on social media; at its Twitter series launch, it was trending at the top domestically and internationally.

Craig and Neil “have defined a genre with their outstanding debut season of The Last of Us,” said Francesca Orsi, EVP of HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films. EP Carolyn Strauss and the rest of our incredible cast and crew join them. “I can’t wait to watch this team outdo themselves again with Season 2 after pulling off this fantastic first season,” the author said.

The Last of Us, a video game adaptation of the same name by Naughty Dog, takes place 20 years after the fall of contemporary civilization. A seasoned survivor named Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) is paid to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of a strangling quarantine zone. When they both have to travel across the United States and rely on one another for survival, a simple job quickly becomes a terrible and painful trip.

“I’m grateful that so many people have listened to and connected with our account of Joel and Ellie’s journey, overwhelmed and humbled by it. Executive producer Druckmann stated, “The partnership with Craig Mazin, our fantastic cast, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. “Now that season two is here, we have the tremendous pleasure of being able to do it again! Thank you from everyone at Naughty Dog and PlayStation!
