Sally Field has appeared on our screens for over 50 years, and throughout that time, she has prioritized her personal and professional lives. She has had two marriages throughout the years and a protracted romance with Burt Reynolds.

In 1968, the Mrs. Doubtfire actress and her first husband, Steven Craig, exchanged vows. Sadly, the couple separated in 1975 after seven years of marriage. They were the proud parents of two kids, Peter Craig and Eli Craig.

The A-lister and Burt, her Smokey and the Bandit co-star began dating two years after she split from her first husband. Although there were several bumps along the way, their famous union lasted for five years before they called it quit in 1982.

“He was an important part of my life for a very long period,” Sally gushed during a press appearance for her memoir In Pieces in December 2018, just three months after Burt’s death in September. “He was a catalyst for me in many ways, and I probably was for him.”

After her divorce from Burt, Sally was married a second time in 1984, this time to Alan Greisman. Sam Greisman, her youngest son, was born to the Flying Nun alum and the Hollywood film producer in 1987, bringing a new member to the movie icon’s family. But in 1994, the former couple got divorced.

The Academy Award winner hasn’t been in a relationship in years, but Sally isn’t unhappy about it. She joked during her book launch, “I’m incredibly content with how I am, and I don’t want to pick up your underpants in the morning, you know?

In addition to concentrating on her illustrious showbiz profession, Sally keeps busy with her kids. In a February 2020 interview with Closer Weekly, she gushed, “My sons are the three things I’m most proud of in my life.” They are good, loving, and successful people. Each has a unique set of skills and achievements.

Burt Reynolds (1977-1982)

Sally and Burt began dating after meeting on the Smokey and the Bandit set in 1977. The late actor recently told Vanity Fair that Sally was the “love” of his life despite their turbulent relationship.

“By the time we met, the weight of his stardom had become a way for Burt to control everyone around him, and from the moment I walked through the door, it was a way to control me,” Sally wrote in her memoir. “We were a perfect match of flaws. Blindly I fell into a rut that had long ago formed in my road, a pre-programmed behavior as if in some past I had pledged a soul-binding commitment to this man.”

Fans know that Burt is most remembered for his roles in movies like Smokey and the Bandit, Deliverance, Boogie Nights, The Cannonball Run, and others. The Longest Yard alumnus’s first wife, Judy Carne, predeceased him in 1963; his second wife, Loni Anderson, predeceased him in 1988. During his second marriage, the erstwhile heartthrob transformed into a devoted father to his only son, Quinton Anderson Reynolds.

Burt sadly passed away on September 6, 2018, at 82, following a heart attack.

Alan Greisman (1984-1994)

Sally got married to Alan four years after her romance with Burt ended. Sam, the couple’s son, was born in December 1987 after ten years of marriage.
