A Day In Which Both Spouses Die From Cancer!
A South Dakota couple fighting different forms of cancer passed away within 12 hours of one another.
According to Yankton County Emergency Medical Services, Steve Hawkins, 58, and his wife Wendy Hawkins, 52, both passed away on December 23 after battling cancer. The pair passed away within 12 hours of one another, according to a GoFundMe set up for the family.
While Wendy Hawkins had struggled briefly with cancer, Steve Hawkins endured the condition for almost five years.
According to KSFY, the couple is survived by their three adult children, Brad, Mandi, and Trent, who are all in their 20s.

Beginning in 2009, Steve Hawkins served as the administrator for Yankton County EMS. In the past, he had paramedic jobs in San Diego, Cody, Wyoming, and Yellowstone National Park.
Mother-at-home Wendy Hawkins raised her children.
According to Yankton County EMS, a memorial service will be performed for the pair close to the start of spring. There is no specified time for this event.
The GoFundMe has generated more than $9,000 of its $10,000 goal, which will help pay for burial costs.
