Grey's Anatomy' Actress Caterina Scorsone Saves Her 3 Children

Actress Caterina Scorsone of “Grey’s Anatomy” claimed she and her three kids recently escaped a terrifying fire that destroyed her Pasadena house and killed her four cherished dogs.

The tragic fire occurred in January, but the actress just revealed details of the incident on Monday. She had barely two minutes to save her three children.

In a press statement, the Pasadena Fire Department applauded Scorsone for acting quickly and preserving her children’s life.

“Within this tragedy, there is a beacon of light. In the most vulnerable time of someone’s life, under the most stressful situations, there is a need to make decisions,” the fire department said in a press release. “The reason this family is alive is because of the actions and decisions that Ms. Scorsone made on that cold night. This is a testament to incredible decision making and the motherly instinct taking over.”

In an emotional Instagram post, Scorsone showed a photo of the devastation, writing, “A couple of months ago my house burned down.”

“While getting my kids ready for bed and finishing bath time, smoke began to seep up through the grout around the tub,” the caption read. “When I looked down the hallway a river of thick black smoke had already formed and was filling the house.”

Scorsone continued by describing how rapidly the incident came to pass.

“I had about two minutes to get my three kids out of the house, and we escaped with less than shoes on our feet,” she wrote. “But we got out. And for that I am eternally grateful.”

Scorsone and her ex-husband Rob Giles have three children: Lucky, 3, Paloma, 6, and Eliza, 10. Scorsone is best known for her role as Dr. Amelia Shepherd in the popular ABC drama.

Her post featured pictures of her lost dogs from the fire.

“We are still sitting with that loss, but we are lucky we got to love them at all,” she wrote.

She also expressed her gratitude to the neighbors, friends, and firefighters who assisted her in the aftermath.

“Thank you to the firefighters and the investigators (thank you Trey!) Thank you to my neighbor who answered our frantic knocks at her door,” the caption read. “Thank you to the parents at my kids’ school who sent toys and books, my friends at @greysabc and @shondaland who sent clothing and supplies, my sisters who flew in to handle logistics so that I could be with my kids. Thank you to my team who made everything easier.”

According to Pasadena Fire authorities, the cause of the fire is still being looked into. Playing dirty has been disregarded.
