We know a lot about Avatar 2 and the forthcoming instalments in the franchise; in fact, the writer and director of the movie James Cameron made it clear that the underwater worlds of Pandora’s universal neighbourhood would be essential in the upcoming instalments. With all of the underwater hijinks, we have seen from the set of the much-awaited sequel, that pledge is, of course, going to be very much accomplished. Even the producer Jon Landau recently shared a badass story about Kate Winslet’s underwater talents and how she managed to impress him during one particular day on the Avatar 2 filming.
Winslet exceedingly comfortable with challenging surroundings
To be specific, Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 occur in primarily aquatic settings, as mentioned in an article published from EW. While talking to the publication, Landau confirmed that very notion with a story regarding Ms. Winslet being extremely comfortable with her surroundings. As you will read below, those “surroundings” were rugged at best and frightening at their worst:
“One of my favourite memories was that we had this circular tank, maybe 40 feet wide, with a big glass portal in it. I walked by one day, and I saw Kate Winslet walking on the bottom of the tank. She’s walking towards me and sees me in the window, and she just waves, gets to the end of the wall, turns around, and walks back.”
It is beyond our imagination that being around a-list actors working on their breathing on the massive set of Avatar 2 would seem like, but Jon Landau does. What he’s explaining with Kate Winslet is the outcome of a four-week training regime. Winslet had to advance on underwater skills with other cast members to shoot underwater for the most extended period they could, without a breathing apparatus. Eventually, as confirmed by James Cameron, any scuba gear being put on by the actors would have ravaged the motion capture process. The requirement to remain underwater for an extended period is undoubtedly burdensome. Still, to do so and not get the shot you’re looking to land, I would imagine, would be distressing for all the people engaged.
America’s Got Talent Season 17: Release date, Cast, and everything you need to know
Stories like Kate Winslet and her capability to remain underwater for nearly 7 minutes, YES! It’s true. Seven minutes at a time are precisely what turn productions like Avatar 2 all the more epic to behold. Throwing in a pair of heavy wings as part of a proper sequence on the bottom of that pool raises the stakes. Ms Winslet wasn’t phased after a particular point since those long times gave her the strength and confidence she needed.
With the first sequel already wrapped up and Avatar 3 majorly shot on the live-action front, James Cameron and Jon Landau are on their way to finally come up with the long-awaited story of Jake Sully and his future with Netyri on Pandora. Knowing that they have trained their cast to give their best performances underwater, it must appear like we can see even things to happen in Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 that are much far away from our thoughts.
When is Avatar 2 scheduled to release?
Given no other schedule, overhauls are gone through. Avatar 2 should be available in theatres on its currently scheduled 16th of December, 2022. There is some exciting contest on the high seas in that release window, as you’ll see in the full lineup of 2022 movies headed to theatres this year. This film does exist, and the countdown continues until the world gets to see its first glimpse at the results involved. In the meantime, you can see the original Avatar on Disney+ if you want to recall whatever happened in the first instalment.
