Stephen Marley’s son Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley, Bob Marley’s grandson, died. He was 31.

On December 27, a publicist for the late reggae musician informed Rolling Stone of the information. The exact reason for death is currently unknown.

Marley was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on March 12, 1991. He made his musical debut in 2010 with the song “My Girl,” which he co-wrote with his cousin Daniel Bambaata Marley. Marley reflected on his upbringing in a musical family in a Rolling Stone interview, saying, “Watching those individuals come around to the house and how the whole creative process would transpire was beautiful. When I got home, I would try to finish my homework, but I would always get sidetracked and wander over to the studio. You would constantly want to enter and exit to check on what was happening.
