Casey MacPherson Pomeroy and Caleb Guillory, two childhood friends, died at a New Year’s Eve celebration. On an island in the Eastern Caribbean, the two men were hanging out with pals when they both began to experience seizures, ultimately resulting in their deaths. Investigation Discovery’s “Still a Mystery: Best Lives Cut Short” explores this tragedy’s many unresolved issues. Let’s investigate this case further, shall we?
How Did Caleb Guillory And Casey MacPherson Pomeroy Pass Away?
Growing up in Eagle Point, Oregon, Casey MacPherson Pomeroy, and Caleb Guillory were close friends throughout their childhood. The reserved Caleb and the outgoing Casey MacPherson Pomeroy were good friends who had known each other since they were young. Casey MacPherson Pomeroy relocated to Los Angeles, California, sometime in 2004. Casey opted to explore acting at the time since he was dissatisfied with his salesperson day job, but it didn’t work out for him.
Early in 2010, Casey MacPherson Pomeroy, then 31 years old, wed Barbara, a nurse practitioner who was 22 years his senior. Casey decided to put up his acting ambitions in 2018 and enroll in a medical program on the Caribbean island of Anguilla. The couple relocated there, and in December 2018, they invited Chuck Gross and Caleb, two additional friends from Casey’s youth, to travel down and celebrate the new year with them.
Together with their spouses, the two men traveled. On December 30, after a night of drinking and hanging around came to a sad conclusion. Caleb began to throw up and experience convulsions when they returned to their apartment. Alisha, Chuck’s wife, called the police at 9:49. The paramedics discovered Caleb dead in the living room when they arrived.

A second seizure victim, Casey MacPherson Pomeroy, was conscious and brought to the hospital. Sadly, he passed away soon after. The family could not contact the group until after the New Year since the four other people were taken into custody immediately. However, they still had more questions than they did answers.
Who Killed Casey MacPherson Pomeroy And Caleb Guillory?
According to the family, Barbara allegedly informed Casey and Caleb’s relatives that they had been poisoned. When they went to seek Casey’s misplaced flip-flops that evening, they left their shared drink unattended for a while. After drinking from it, they returned to their flat. The two began having seizures shortly after, and they eventually passed away.
Barbara admitted that she had a sip of the beverage and felt a bit queasy but that because she hadn’t had too much, it hadn’t affected her as terribly. Following that, Caleb’s wife Carly, Barbara, Chuck, Alisha, and all of them were arrested, but they were finally found not guilty.
Later, against the families’ wishes, the widows chose to cremate Casey and Caleb Guillory‘s bodies. January 2019 saw the group’s return to the country. The death certificates and police reports were sought after by Casey’s family because they thought that many issues needed to be answered. The two friends’ deaths’ cause was shocking to them, as expected.
A high level of MDA and cocaine was found in both of their bodies, according to the report. The prospect of poisoning Casey was raised by his medical record, which listed pulmonary edoema, heart toxicity, hypothermia, and convulsions. There were some questions raised by Caleb’s report, which included the terms asphyxia, strangling, chest compression, and blunt force injuries.
To look into the case, the family next engaged a private detective. A $1.5 million life insurance policy payout in Casey’s name was reportedly attempted to be collected by Barbara. The four refused to board a plane to return to Anguilla. Still, according to a statement from a family lawyer speaking on their behalf, they have been cooperating with the proper authorities. Anguilla police have never approached them for any interrogation. Since then, Casey’s family has been seeking clarification.
