Many in the fitness industry are saddened by the passing of Cedric “Beastie” Jones. The actor and boxer passed away on October 16, according to an Instagram post by his firm, Beastie Boxing. He was 46.
“Cedric was a loving father, devoted husband, caring son, brother, community leader, and incredible friend who inspired others,” the gym wrote Oct. 20. “He genuinely wanted everyone to become the best version of themselves. He was a gift.”
The company added, “Cedric had dedicated his life to helping people in and out of the gym. As founder of both Beastie Boxing and the BMoved Foundation, he inspired and helped people achieve what they previously thought impossible.” His cause of death has not been shared.
On October 22nd, a memorial run was held in Manhattan Beach, California, to remember Cedric, who had co-starred with Chris Pratt in both The Terminal List and The Magnificent Seven, as reported by the Daily Mail. One post on the Beastie Boxing forum said, “He leaves behind a loving wife and three lovely minor children.”
The event was held in his honor and to express condolences to his family. The memorial flyer was reprinted by his wife, the fashion stylist Barbie Jones, with the words “Run with Us…In Honor of My Late Husband’s Life and Work!!
According to an interview he gave to Pulse Magazine for their Winter 2023 edition, the Macon, Georgia-born personal trainer has been a “theatre kid” ever since he was seven years old. Cedric got his dance associate’s degree from a school in Atlanta and then headed west to L.A. with only $5,000.
After a year of rough living, he made it big in boxing and Hollywood, landing a role in Will Smith’s Emancipation in 2022.
“My story is not over,” he told the outlet. “I want to leave a mark. When people speak my name, I want them to relate it to hope, inspiration, being able to thrive and go get it.” Cedric has been vocal about his affection for his family in recent months, even sharing a marriage-related life lesson.
“Be careful when you hashtag relationship goals,” he wrote on Instagram in July while tagging Barbie.
“The internet does not show you the hard times, it doesn’t show when you both aren’t feeling each other but still want to be in the same room together. they always show the family photos and vacations. What we should show you is that if work together and learn to listen to each other without being ready to defend or attack. You will really learn each other. Love is an action and anything worth your action should be worth it.”
