Elizabeth Pena Cause of Death

The toxic effects of Elizabeth Pena’s heavy drinking led to her untimely demise. On Tuesday, October 13th, at the age of 55, the Modern Family and La Bamba actress passed away.

Pena’s death was first ascribed to “natural causes,” but her death certificate, acquired by TMZ, indicates that she had been suffering from cirrhosis of the liver “due to alcohol.” Her heart apparently stopped due to severe gastrointestinal hemorrhage after she had been fighting the condition for months.

The Cuban-American star was a household name because to her many film and TV roles. She has appeared in films including La Bamba, Rush Hour, Down and Out in Beverly Hills, and Lone Star, and she played Sofia Vergara’s mother on the US television series Modern Family.

In The Incredibles, she provided her voice for the character Mirage. Her spouse, two children, mother, and sister all survive her. Zoe Saldana wrote “my heart is broken” upon hearing the news of Pena’s death, and Eva Longoria said the actress “had paved the way for so many of us” in a tweet after Pena’s passing.

Last Friday, her nephew Mario-Francisco Robles wrote for Latin-Review, “Her singular focus was breathtaking, and awe-inspiring,” Robles also said that the family was “heartbroken.”

“There’s now a void that will never be filled. All we can do now is remember your sharp sense of humour, your endless hunger for life, and your never-ending pursuit of happiness.”
