Former Major League Baseball Outfielder: At the age of 53, former Major League Baseball player Lee Tinsley passed away on Thursday. Tinsley left behind three children when he passed away in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Tinsley, an outfielder, spent his five seasons in the major leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, and Seattle Mariners. Although the cause of death has not been disclosed, Tinsley’s passing was confirmed by the Mariners and Reds.
The Mariners tweeted: “We are saddened by the passing of former player and first base coach Lee Tinsley, and extend our condolences to his family and loved ones.”

The Reds tweeted their sympathies as well: “Lee Tinsley’s passing is lamented by the Reds. Tinsley, who served as the Reds’ assistant hitting coach in 2014 and 2015, passed away, and vice president/general manager Nick Krall expressed his sadness at the news. In and out of the game, “Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Tinsley played in the Minor Leagues for the Los Angeles Angels and Montreal Expos after his MLB career came to an end. He also participated in the Western Baseball League and the Mexican League.
In the organizations of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Angels, Mariners, and Reds, Tinsley worked as a coach.
