Fred White Dies: Fred E. White, a drummer for the US, was born Frederick Eugene Adams on this day in 1955 and passed away on January 1, 2023. He was a founding band member and joined when he was still young. He previously provided the drums for Donny Hathaway’s Live album.
Along with his half-brother Maurice White, brother Verdine White, and other bandmates, Fred White received recognition in 2000 when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with Earth, Wind & Fire. At 67 years and seven months old, Fred White Dies on January 1, 2023.

Drummer For Earth, Wind, And Fire, Fred White Dies At 67!
Fred White was the drummer for the well-known ’70s band Earth, Wind & Fire. Fred White’s older brother and former bandmate Verdine White announced on Instagram. He was 67.
Verdine White wrote on Instagram on Sunday, “Today our family is heartbroken with the departure of an extraordinary and talented family member, our dear brother Frederick Eugene ‘Freddie’ White.
Verdine White has stated that his 32-year-old younger brother was an “original” founding member of Earth, Wind & Fire and a “child protégé” with gold records at the tender age of 16. However, as Verdine White clarified, “he was the charming brother that was always amusing and delightfully wicked!” both at home and outside of it.
No immediate details regarding the cause of death were available. CNN has reached the managers of the organization. A video of a drum solo from the group’s 1979 appearance at Rockpalast in Essen, Germany, as part of their Tour of the World was posted on Earth, Wind, and Fire’s official Instagram page as another tribute to Fred White.
Philip Bailey, one of the original lead singers for Earth, Wind & Fire, also sent a tribute in Fred White’s honor by uploading a picture of the group’s two Grammy awards from 1980. We will never forget you, Freddie,” he wrote.
Before officially joining Earth, Wind & Fire, Fred White performed on the drums for Donny Hathaway’s “Live” record and went on tour with him. Fred White earned six Grammy awards and was nominated for another thirteen while he was a group member.
For the songs “Boogie Wonderland” from 1979 and “Runnin'” from 1977, he and the band received the best R&B instrumental performance award. In 2000, Earth, Wind, and Fire became eligible for induction.

When they were inducted, the band, according to the museum’s introduction, “mixed jazz, soul, gospel, pop, and more and wrapped them in one kaleidoscopic, spectacular package.” Only EW&F has been able to garner widespread appreciation from critics and fans.
In addition, the Hall of Fame stated that Earth, Wind & Fire “solidified the expansion of black album music in the Seventies” because they sold over a million copies of their albums and were Columbia Records’ best-selling R&B act ever with six straight double-platinum recordings.
The Diana Ross album “Thank You,” which will be published in 2021, recently had Fred White’s contributions.
