Gloucester Va Shooting: Around 1:05 on Sunday morning, the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 7800 Block of Guinea Road. This is in Gloucester’s Hayes neighborhood.
The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office said that when deputies arrived, they saw a sizable gathering of people at a residence. One male was discovered deceased outside the house, according to deputies, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Deputies reported that a second male was discovered with non-life-threatening wounds from a gunshot wound. After being treated at Riverside Regional Medical Center, he was later released.
Police identified Corbin Winnington, 15, as the shooter after examining the scene and speaking with witnesses. Winnington did leave the location before officers arrived, according to deputies, News 3 reported.
Winnington, according to authorities, has been charged with malicious wounding and using a handgun to commit a crime. According to deputies, further charges will be filed as the investigation progresses.
Winnington is currently at large, allegedly armed, and is considered dangerous, according to deputies who published a photo of him on Sunday.
“While it is not this agency’s normal practice to release the name or likeness of a juvenile suspect, the danger to the community and the need to safely take Mr. Winnington into custody makes this release necessary,” Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office officials said.
