On that fateful Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 5:30 in the morning, someone dialed the PPD emergency line to report seeing a woman sitting in a car with what seemed to be injuries in an industrial neighborhood southeast of the Metropolitan of Phoenix in an alley between Chambers Street and 38th Street.
Several PPD patrols were dispatched to the scene of the tragic find to ascertain that a Hispanic girl, subsequently identified as Itzel Espinoza, was actually inside a car when she was fatally shot with at least one bullet.

Itzel Espinoza’s death was discovered by the patrolmen, who then sought the presence of PPD homicide division agents to look into the case’s specifics. The PPD inquiry has not yet revealed if the young Espinoza’s deceased vehicle was his or someone else’s.
