Jack Ryan Season 4: CIA agent Jack Ryan is finally back for the third season of Jack Ryan after a lengthy, three-year hiatus following the release of season two in 2019. The good news is that a fourth season is already in production.
It’s time for Jack to receive a happy ending, or at the very least, a break long enough for him to get lunch after saving the day—and the world—so many times.
Season four will undoubtedly feature another global calamity that he must avert, so while we wait for the first episodes, here is everything you need to know about what the CIA agent and his friends can expect.
Jack Ryan Season 4 Potential Release Date: When Will The Series Return?
The team was first seen filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia, in February 2022, when the fourth season’s production finished.
We can anticipate watching season four in mid to late 2023 since previous seasons took roughly 18 months to debut on Amazon after filming began.
Jack Ryan Season 4 Cast: Who Will Be Returning?
Of course, CIA operative Jack will return for season four. However, since it has been claimed that John Krasinski’s original contract was just for four seasons, this will probably be his final assignment. Jack Ryan season four is the final of the planned series, although Krasinski has hinted that we might not see the CIA agent again.
He recently admitted to E! News, “We shot season three and season four back to back for almost two years straight attempting to make this program. “I’m unsure if I’ll play this character again after this… To continue it, I might do it tonight in my living room.”
While Jack may be hanging up his holster, season four won’t mark the end of the Ryan universe, which will please readers of Tom Clancy’s books. Deadline reported in May 2022 that while Amazon had announced that season four would be the final installment, spin-offs, including one featuring Michael Pea, were already in the works.
Pea will join the season four cast as Ding Chavez, a character well-known to readers of the Tom Clancy novels. Pea is best recognized for his work in Narcos: Mexico and Ant-Man. He is a Los Angeles-based CIA agent who has appeared in numerous Jack Ryan books and the 1994 film adaptation of Clear and Present Danger (where Raymond Cruz played him).
The last season of Jack Ryan will also feature a familiar figure that hasn’t appeared since season one: Abbie Cornish, who plays Cathy Mueller, Jack’s love interest.
As longtime viewers are aware, Cathy remained with Jack at the end of season one and was never explicitly written out of the show. She wasn’t present in season two, but Jack did reference being single in one episode, and she wasn’t referenced in the third season currently airing. According to Deadline, she will return for the fourth season, but it is unknown how she will be presented at this time.
Although the remaining cast members have not yet been announced, we anticipate seeing CIA agent James Greer (Wendell Pierce) and former agent Mike November (Michael Kelly) return for the third and final season, given they both made it to the season three finale.
Jack Ryan Season 4 Plot: What Will Happen?
The third season and Tom Clancy’s book The Hunt for Red October have certain parallels, and it’s possible that season four will be based on one of Clancy’s other books. It’s anyone’s guess which of the 21 novels—some of which were co-authored by Mark Greaney, Mike Maden, Marc Cameron with Tom Clancy, and others—were written by Greaney and Grant Blackwood following Clancy’s passing in 2013—since there are so many of them.
In reality, the plot is being kept as top-secret as a CIA-classified paper, but the appearance of Cathy Mueller, Jack’s season one love interest, could provide a crucial clue. In the novels, she marries Jack, so it’s feasible that we’ll witness a nuptial in season four. Who knows, maybe it will be Jack’s happy ending at the show’s end.
Before Chavez’s character gets his own spin-off series, we know that Jack will work with fellow agent Ding Chavez (Michael Pea). It’s unclear where the series will take place or whether other well-known characters like Greer and Mike will get involved.
Jack Ryan Season 4 Trailer: Is There Any Footage Yet?
It seems unlikely we will see a trailer for season four before spring 2023 since season three has only recently debuted on Amazon Prime. Don’t forget to check back for updates since we’ll have them here as soon as it’s available.
