In 1993, Frank started working on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Even though he wasn’t one of the original five Rangers, Tommy Oliver/the Green Ranger was first introduced during a Season 1 story arc in which he was abducted and brainwashed by the villain Rita Repulsa because his fighting prowess was equal to Jason/the Red Rangers. After passing a series of tests, he was given Rita’s Sword of Darkness, the source of the evil magic holding him under her control.

The Green Ranger came very close to defeating the Power Rangers and even managed to destroy their command center. Jason eventually overcame Tommy in a one-on-one battle that resulted in the destruction of the Sword of Darkness as Tommy’s rampage on the town of Angel Grove grew more catastrophic. After Rita’s influence over him ended, Tommy joined the Power Rangers and put his abilities to good use.
Tommy was only supposed to play a small part but became a fan favorite. He was brought back as the White Ranger and the new leader of the Power Rangers, taking the place of Jason after first being written out when he lost his Green Ranger abilities.
For many more years, Frank continued to portray Tommy, and he currently holds the record for the most appearances on the series throughout various iterations of the show. Frank made appearances in Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers Wild Force, Power Rangers Dino Thunder, Power Rangers Super Megaforce, and Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel after three seasons of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
The character’s time spent with Frank was transferred to the big screen. In the 1995 film Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and the 1997 film Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, the actor played Tommy. Along with his fellow Power Rangers co-star Amy Jo Johnson, who he portrayed as his love interest Kimberly/the Pink Ranger in the original series, Frank appeared in the 2017 Power Rangers reboot as a resident of Angel Grove.
