A trip to New England by Johnny Depp’s all-star band Hollywood Vampires has been postponed after the actor sustained a “painful” injury.
The SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire, was to host Depp, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Tommy Henriksen on Tuesday and the Wang Theatre in Boston on Wednesday.
The band said on Facebook, “Johnny has sustained a painful injury to his ankle following his recent appearances and has been advised by his doctor not to travel.”
Depp revealed that he has a fractured ankle in a post on Instagram.
“Several medical professionals have strongly suggested I avoid any and all activity for the moment and so am sadly unable to travel at this time,” Depp stated. “To that end, the guys and I are very sorry to miss you in New Hampshire, Boston and New York.”
The New Hampshire show will occur on July 29 after the Boston performance on July 28.
Depp recently spoke to the media while attending the Cannes Film Festival to promote a brand-new French film, declaring that he had “no further need for Hollywood.”
Depp made headlines after suing his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, for defamation. Heard claimed that Depp had abused her, and Depp contended that this hurt his job prospects.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor received a $10.35 million verdict from the jury in the case last June, while Heard received a $2 million counterclaim award.
