The search for a new judge to replace Katy Perry on “American Idol” might not be long in coming. The vocalist said on February 12 that her final season of the singing competition show will be airing in the upcoming season.
However, 2007 “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks claims she is qualified for the position.
“Hey there, @AmericanIdol—There seems to be an opening at the judges’ table, right?” My name will be entered in the drawing! Brad Sparks, 34, shared on February 16th.
Oh hiiii @AmericanIdol—I hear a seat opened up at the judges table! I’m putting my name in the hat! ♀️

Sparks, who was only seventeen years old when the show debuted, was the youngest contestant. Astonishing then-judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, she sang Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me” during her audition.
In the last episode of the season, she sang “This Is My Now,” “A Broken Wing” by Martina McBride, “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera, and ultimately, “This Is My Now” to beat Blake Lewis.
Following her “Idol” victory, she dropped her self-titled debut album. A Grammy nomination came her way for the song “No Air,” which she wrote and performed alongside Chris Brown. “One Step at a Time” and “Battlefield” are two of Sparks’ other popular songs.
Many viewers rank Sparks among the most popular “American Idol” candidates. After Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, and the show’s first winner, Kelly Clarkson, she was ranked fourth by Insider.
Perry made her impending exit from the bench known on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Along with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, she has been a judge for seven seasons.
‘Idol’ is a show that I adore. It has brought me closer to the beating heart of America, but I long to experience that same heartbeat in the flesh. Are you getting my point, Jimmy? “Perry,” Perry announced.
Since “American Idol” was revived in 2018 and moved from its home network, Fox, to ABC, the three have been judges. February 18 marks the premiere of Perry’s final season, the 22nd overall.
