She was raised with her three older brothers, James, Mshon, and Juwan by her mom Denise and dad James Sr., a manager. At the age of five months, Keshia’s parents took her to a local talent agency, and by the time she was nine months old, she had booked a national print commercial for Johnson & Johnson.
She attended Rutgers Preparatory School and then Potomac School and Foxcroft School in Virginia after her family moved there after “The Cosby Show” ended. Knight Pulliam completed her education at Foxcroft in 1997 and at Spelman College in 2001, where she majored in sociology. Keshia joined Delta Sigma Theta as a student at Spelman.

In April of 2018, she and Ed formalized their divorce.
Ed was forced to pay $3,000 per month in child support and Keshia was given primary custody of Ella despite Hartwell’s efforts to get joint custody. Knight Pulliam claimed roughly $32,000 in arrears in child support from Hartwell in April of 2020. For 2019, Keshia has been in a relationship with her “Pride & Prejudice: Atlanta” co-star, Brad James.
