Laenor Velaryon: As the eldest of Corlys and Rhaenys Velaryon’s children, Laenor Velaryon holds a special place in their hearts. The Velaryons have long been one of Westeros’s most influential and prosperous families. “Sea Snake” is a common name for Corlys. In addition to his role as Master of Ships, Corlys is a member of King Viserys’ tiny council.
The Velaryons call Driftmark their home. Since he is Corlys’ son, Laenor inherits Driftmark. Together with Corlys, Vaemond Velaryon, and Daemon Targaryen, Laenor fought against the Crabfeeder. In the third episode of House of the Dragon, Laenor devised the strategy that would lead to Daemon’s death at the hands of the Crabfeeder.
He suggested sending a lone man in to act as bait, with the Crabfeeder and his troops tricked into believing they had surrendered. Laenor was confident that Daemon would undertake such a dangerous task, but Vaemond was not convinced. The guy was right.
Who Plays Laenor Velaryon?
Series newbie Theo Nate plays Laenor Velaryon’s younger self. John Macmillan will portray the aging version. Theo made a previous appearance on the small screen in an episode of Time in 2021, two years before his arrival on House of the Dragon. This is his second acting role and his first in an HBO series.
Who Is Theo Nate?
British actor Theo Nate has starred in several blockbuster movies, including House of Dragon, Time, and Game of Thrones. For the BBC, Theo Nate starred in the drama series Time. In 2021, Theo Nate made his television debut in an uncredited cameo on the Sean Bean series “Time,” but he is best known for his talents on stage.
It’s been reported that English comedian Theo Nate graduated from LIPA, the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, where he reportedly received intensive performance and creative expression training. Theo Nate is a starting entertainer who has attended acting classes in the United Kingdom. He has filled in as a performer in the theatre there.
In House of Dragon, the actor plays Laenor Velaryon, the husband of Milly Alcock’s young Rhaenyra Targaryen. This is only his second television role. Princess Phaenyra wed Laenor Velaryon, the chief spouse of Rhaenyra, and Theo Nate played a pivotal role in establishing the Dragon dynasty.
Does Laenor Ride A Dragon?
Without a doubt, he does. Laenor rode his silvery grey dragon, Seasmoke, towards the climactic showdown with the Crabfeeder. Daemon had just been cornered by the Crabfeeder’s troops when he arrived. Seasmoke set fire to the battlefield. With this, Daemon and Corlys’s troops were able to gain the upper hand.
In House of the Dragon, Laenor is just one of many Dragonriders. The Targaryen princess, Rhaenyra, mounts Syrax while Daemon pilots Caraxes. Leanor’s appearance in Episode 3 riding Seasmoke is the first time a character of color has ridden a dragon in any Game of Thrones shows.
Who Does Laenor Marry?
To those familiar with the Targaryen family tree, you know Laenor and Rhaenyra eventually tie the knot, bringing House Velaryon and House Targaryen closer together. Viserys made marrying Rhaenyra a priority in Season 3, Episode 3. Rhaenyra’s marriage to Laenor, which Lord Lyon Strong said would cement an unbreakable connection with House Velaryon, was mentioned.
Laenor and Rhaenys proposed to Viserys earlier in the season that he marry their daughter, Laena Velaryon. Because of this, Viserys has chosen to let Rhaenyra select her future husband. Rhaenrya and Laenor matched, as described in Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin. However, Laenor’s homosexuality is common knowledge. Alliance rather than romantic love brought to Rhaenyra and Laenor’s union.
Does Laenor Have Children?
On paper, Laenor and Rhaenyra do have offspring. During their marriage, three boys were born to Rhaenyra: Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey. It is said, however, that Rhaenyra’s lover Ser Harwin Strong is the real father of her kids with Laenor.
Much can change in ten years.
