Lil Wayne, Birdman, and others are reportedly on the state’s list of potential witnesses for Young Thug’s trial, which will start later this month.
Today saw the start of jury selection in the Young Thug YSL trial (Jan. 4). A list of witnesses the prosecution and defense might call into court was obtained by local Atlanta television station WSB-TV.
According to the news source, among the people, the reason intends to call to testify on Young Thug’s behalf are Killer Mike, his fiance, and “music execs.” On the other hand, the prosecution’s list also includes other members in the music industry, including Rich Homie Quan, Lil Wayne, Birdman, and YFN Lucci.
According to reports, the state has also named many rappers in connection with Young Thug’s co-defendant Miles Farley. Especially notable are Trippie Redd, Future, and T.I.
This does not imply that any people on the list will give a witness statement. Following news that YFN Lucci was included on the list, his lawyer Drew Findling last week issued a statement denying his client would be implicated in the YSL lawsuit.
“Rayshawn Bennett (Lucci) has never been interviewed or subpoenaed by law enforcement, the Fulton County District Attorney‘s office, or any of the party’s regarding the YSL case,” Findling told XXL.
“Any party can announce, for example, that Abraham Lincoln is on their witness list, but those words alone are meaningless. So, to be 100% clear, Rayshawn Bennett (Lucci)will not be a witness in the YSL case. His focus, as it should be, is on his pending Fulton County case.”
Lil Wayne, Birdman, and the Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney’s Office representatives have been contacted by XXL for comment.
While some of the 28 defendants in the YSL RICO case, including Gunna, who was let out of prison last month, have accepted plea agreements, Young Thug and other defendants are still heading to trial. The district attorney for Fulton County, Georgia, has accused Thug of being the head of a deadly street gang that he has reportedly disguised as a successful music label.
This week’s jury selection is anticipated to be finished. The trial for Young Thug is expected to start on January 9.
