Lindsey Vonn Net Worth

In terms of wealth, American Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn brings in $14 million. Three Olympic medals, including one gold, have been awarded to Lindsey Vonn thus far in her career. She holds the record for the most World Cup victories by a woman with 82, and is only a couple victories behind the all-time leader.

She is the only American woman to win the World Cup since 1983, and she has done it four times (in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012). Her 16 World Cup victories come from downhill, Super G, and combined competitions. In addition to her two World Cup titles, Vonn also won the Downhill and Super G titles at the 2009 World Championships.

In the Olympics, she made history by becoming the first American woman to win a gold medal in downhill, as well as the first to win a bronze medal in the Super-G, during the 2010 Vancouver Games. Despite numerous injuries, she maintained a positive outlook and ultimately retired in 2019, leaving an impressive impression on the sport of alpine skiing.

Lindsey Vonn Success

During the second training run at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Italy, Vonn crashed and was airlifted to a hospital in Turin for the night after posting the second-best time in the first run. Despite suffering considerable agony and bruising, Vonn was back on the slopes just two days later. She bravely competed despite suffering, ultimately placing eighth, and winning the U.S. Olympic Spirit Award.

In the downhill and super-G events at the 2007 World Cup, she placed third overall in both. Vonn became the second American woman and the first since 1980 to win the overall World Cup title in 2008. On March 8 of that year in Switzerland, she broke the previous American record for most World Cup downhill victories with 10. In 2009 and 2010, she swept the World Cup overall. The Laureus World Sports Awards honored her as “Sportswoman of the Year” in 2010.

Vonn had hoped to compete in all five women’s alpine events at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, but a badly damaged shin sustained in training prevented this. In spite of this, Vonn went on to become the first American woman to win gold in downhill, winning by 0.56 seconds over her longtime adversary Julie Mancuso. Vonn finished second at the 2011 World Cup overall, behind Maria Riesch by only three points.

Vonn’s 2013 season got off to a slow start after she had to miss the first few World Cup events due to illness. Her performances in 2014 were also hindered by injury, thus she opted out of the World Cup that year as well. At the women’s World Cup downhill competition in Lake Louise, Alberta, at the year’s end, she staged a comeback and won. She won her seventh straight World Cup downhill title in March of 2015 when she triumphed at Meribel, France.

Vonn said on Facebook in 2016 that she had surgery to fix a broken humerus bone in her right arm, sustained in a collision during training. In January of 2017, she competed in the World Cup again and won her 77th match. During the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, Vonn earned the bronze medal in women’s downhill and placed sixth in the women’s super-G. During the 2018–19 Alpine Ski World Cup season, she made the decision to retire.

After finishing third in the women’s downhill event at the World Championships on February 10, 2019, Vonn became the oldest woman to earn a medal at a world championship at the age of 34. She ended her career as a race car driver at that point.
